Gerry Feld was born in 1951, living his entire life in Minnesota. He attended Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, Mn. graduating in 1969.
He is an avid historian of World War Two, Korea and Vietnam, and has interviewed countless veterans of these conflicts. Gerry has a reference library of 1000 books he uses for constant reference, that has enabled him to write eight other historical – fiction novels. Gerry proudly served a total of six years with the U.S. Army and the Minnesota National Guard, but did not serve in Vietnam.
After working 32 years for the Minnesota Department of Corrections Gerry retired in 2006.
About The Book
“Wooden Decks and Fast Torpedoes,” is an historical fiction novel that will keep you riveted from beginning to end. Young Price Beaumont loves the sea almost more than anything else in his life, except aviation. So joining the Navy and becoming an officer seemed like a logical fit as it offers him the best of both worlds.
Upon Gradation from Annapolis, Price marries his long time sweetheart and is assigned to a naval destroyer which he considers a slap in the face, as he wanted to be assigned to an aircraft carrier. However following the family tradition of service, Price handles his responsibilities to the best of his abilities but continually gets turned down for the aviation field.
